Macalloy tie rods are also called tension bars, tension bars, post tension sytem etc,has steel grade of TB460 TB520 TB590 and TB700. Steel sheet piling is used in many aggressive environments and consequently factors affecting the life of the tie bar must be considered. Several options are available, including painting and galvanising, but the most common form is to wrap the bar with a protective barrier containing oxygen scavengers, such as the Denso range of products.

Macalloy sheet piling system or piling tie bar system also have 17MHS Macalloy 500 and Macalloy 1030 steel grade.

The exposed end can be protected with an anchor head cap, which is filled with Denso Void Filler. The most common form of protection is denso tape with PVC. The Denso Tape is cold applied and remains plastic over a wide temperature range. It is nonhardening and non-cracking. It is highly resistant to mineral acids, alkalis, salts and micro-organisms and highly impermeable to water, water vapour and gases.
