European standard I sections

IPN sections are the short form for bar shaped building elements or beams with inclined internal surface of the flanges and dimensions according to DIN 1025.I beam will make composite construction of multi-story buildings possible in a cost effective manner. Upper and lower horizontal part of the beam is called flange, the connecting vertical middle part is called web. A stainless steel beam can be or jointed – then it is welded or bolted – or warm manufactured – then it is hot rolled or extruded.

The I beams applications can be many, like Columns, beams, portal frames, hangers, posts, monorails, crane girder and industrial buildings.According to EN 10088-3: 1D the following austenitic grades are predominantly used for European standard I section. The IPN section series has significantly lost importance due to the inclined flanges in favor of the assemble-friendly IPE series.

In USA & European countries most of the frames for multi-story buildings are designed using the principle of composite construction for both beams & floor slabs, which is the most economical form of construction
